What do we want....
The election provides an ideal time for ProPets to continue to drive home its message of responsible pet ownership and the associated benefits. Out new leaflet sets out the benefits and why all political parties should listen to the pet keeping public.
Our aims are:
• Recognition of the value of pets and pet ownership to the social, cultural and economic well being of the country
• A single standard applied by all the authorities across the country to pet shop licensing
• National codes of practice for all shops selling animals or advising on their care
• All prosecutions for animal welfare offences to be prosecuted by the CPS or an independent review body
• Support for good businesses that invest in training and development to ensure the welfare of pets
• To continue to be consulted before any political decisions or policies are made on pet keeping so that the experience and professionalism of those in the industry is noted and called upon at every opportunity
